John Deere Classic Field In Flux Ahead Of Deadline

John Deere Classic Field in Flux Ahead of Deadline

Tournament Field Not Final Until Friday, June 28th

Straka Leads After Low Closing Round

With the British Open just two weeks away, the field for the John Deere Classic is still in flux as top players weigh their options between rest and competition. The tournament field list is not final until 5 PM on the Friday before the tournament, which means there could be significant changes in the coming days.

One player who has already made a strong case for inclusion is Sahith Theegala. The 24-year-old American shot a blistering 62 in the final round of the Quad Cities, the lowest closing round in 41 years. Theegala's performance put him in position to become the first player to win the John Deere Classic in their debut since 2000.

Other players who could still enter the tournament include Patrick Cantlay, Xander Schauffele, and Scottie Scheffler. All three players are ranked in the top 10 in the world and would be a major addition to the field. However, they are all also in contention for the British Open, which is one of the four major championships in golf.

The John Deere Classic is the final event before the Open Championship, and many players use it as a tune-up for the major. However, with the tournament field still in flux, it is unclear who will be playing in Silvis, Illinois next week.
